Trip leaves is less than one week!
The UMC NCJ VIM January health education trip to Senegal leaves in less than one week. We are busy assembling the materials needed to assist the missionaries in Senegal to begin and sustain a community health worker education program. While we are there, we will acquaint 13 village representatives with water purification, sanitation, nutrition and other important health strategies which they will take back to their people and pass on.

Wow! My husband and I have been trying to find a mission group that would best use our training and gifts. He is an OB/GYN and I am a science educator, molecular biology researcher and returned Peace Corps volunteer who lived in Togo for 5 years. We are active United Methodists. Could we talk about future trips and how we might get involved when you aren't quite so busy?
ReplyDeleteDear Science Mom - Just thought you should know about the medical team meeting coming up May 7-10 in Des Moines. Called the Rx Consultation. We have been holding these for about 10 years with lots of veterans and new folks enjoying fellowship and exchanging information on how to lead, join or be a part of a medical team. Emphasis on Community Based Primary Health Care. If you want to me on my mailing list for additional info - let Carol or Jane know...
ReplyDeleteThere is also a program for folks like you that might want to spend more than re usual two week trip. it is called Individual Volunteers. A training is scheduled for the North Central Jurisdiction in the Minneapolis area in April. Visit
